How to connect to UFactory xArm 5

In this tutorial, we are going to show you how to connect to your UFactory xArm 5 from the GlambotApp using a direct wired connection.

Pre-Requisites:

  • GlambotApp installed on the device
  • USB-C hub with ethernet port
  • Ethernet cable from the control box to the hub
  • UFactory xArm 5

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Open the iPad Settings:
    • Go to the Settings app on your iPad.
  2. Navigate to the Ethernet section:
    • This section will only appear if the USB-C hub with Ethernet is connected. In case that this is not listed, try replugging the hub again.
  3. Change the configuration to manual:
    • Tap on ‘Configure IP’ and switch it to ‘Manual’.
  4. Fill in the IP settings:
    • Enter ‘192.168.1.1’ in the ‘IP Address’ field.
    • Enter ‘255.255.255.0’ in the ‘Subnet Mask’ field.
    • Leave the ‘Router’ field empty.
    • Tap ‘Save’.
  5. Open the GlambotApp:
    • Launch the Glambot app on your device.
    • Navigate to the settings and tap on ‘Robot Arm Setup’.
    • Select ‘UFactory’ from the top selector.
  6. Connect to the Robot:
    • Locate the UFactory control box and find the sticker under the LAN port.
    • In the GlambotApp, enter the IP address from the sticker into the ‘Ethernet IP’ field.
  7. Start the Robot:
    • Tap on ‘Initialize Robot’.
    • Listen for a few clicks coming from the robot and wait for a confirmation message from the GlambotApp indicating that the start process was successful.

Remember, it’s important to ensure that the network settings are compatible with your local network configuration. The IP address ‘192.168.1.1’ is commonly used for routers, so using it for your device might cause a conflict unless you’re certain it’s free.
